Okay, so this place is so trendy it puts Big Star to shame. It also looks like some sort of re-purposed building from the outside. But, while Big Star looks like a re-purposed Jiffy Lube, Barcocina looks like a re-purposed fire station.
It also sports a positively adorable patio which was perfect for the sunny day we were having.
The only unfortunate thing about the menu is that you can't mix and match tacos - you have to order an order of the same three tacos. I happened to make a deal with a guest judge, Tyler, to swap a taco with him.
On to the tacos:
As you can imagine, I was skeptical, because this was a trendy place and had trendy tacos, however, and luckily, Barcocina followed the idea of KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid). I had 2 of the adobo steak and traded my 3rd to Tyler for a Cajun shrimp taco.
And, man oh man, were they good!
The steak was divine and the cajun shrimp tacos were some of the best that I've had in the city!
That being said, it was a bit pricey. I think I spent $40 at the end of the day, but that included like 2 alcoholic drinks. However, when I'm feeling fancy, I'd come back. Honestly, I'd go here over Big Star any day.
Oh! We also got the guac. And it was DOPE.

* 8/1/19 EDIT: It has been brought to my attention that there is a NOW a Taco Tuesday special at Barcocina: $20 for unlimited tacos and an order of guac for the table. Um….. time to go back!
