Let me start by saying that I absolutely love a good dive bar. Cheap prices, good food, regular people, ALL. MY. THING. I will take it over something trendy almost any day and I can say that the only problem I have with Loncar's is that it is no where near my apartment :(
However, getting there was not difficult. A quick jump on the Metra line out of Millennium Park and we were there in no time.
It has a pretty nondescript outside and the inside is a quintessential Chicago bar. Wood paneling, jukebox, linoleum flooring… you get the gist. You seat yourself but you are served immediately and Loncar's has a little something special going on with their tacos....
So:
They are hard shell.
They are deep fried
They come with this dope orange sauce that when I asked about it they knew I was not from the area and they sent me home with like a bunch of plastic containers of it.
I really liked these tacos. And not just because we ordered a bucket of Bud Light to go with them. They are not going to win any awards for being the most authentic or the most trendy or, hell, the most pretty. But, I have to give props to all the hard shell hustlers out there. It's a hard time to be a gangster.
Overall, I LOVED this experience. And as soon as the weather is not so g. damn frigid I will be back.
