Taqueria Los Comales: I Like It When You Call Me Big (Taco)

I thought last week it was a challenge for us to get our hands on tacos. But this week kicks last week out of the ball park for what we have to put up with AND WE WERE IN LITTLE VILLAGE, which is very much NOT a taco dead zone. Pretty much the opposite.
Here's the story: originally we were supposed to hit up Taqueria Los Barrilitos. So we decide to take a Lyft and as we pull up, it looks closed. I hop out to check and SURE ENOUGH it was closed for JUST. THIS. WEEK.
Still in good spirits, and laughing at our bad luck, I get back in the Lyft and ask him to wait while I check what the next place in Little Village we were planning on going to was, figuring I'd just swap the days. As I'm pulling open the schedule, the street starts to fill with more people. It wasn't totally abandoned before but suddenly there are guys running and filling the area and yelling things to each other. Our Lyft driver, Renauld, says slowly, "I think we should move the car."
We agreed and he pulled away as more and more people were flooding into the area we had just left. I’m not going to presume anything as I do not live in the area. But, all I’m going to say is: be alert and don’t be stupid. Good advice for any urban setting.
ANYWAY.
I found the next place we were supposed to go to Taqueria El Milagro, and Renauld dropped us off on a bit more commercial street.
We enthusiastically got to the door (it's 7:02pm, for reference) and there's a large neon "Closed" sign lit up on the door… Apparently it closes at 7:00! Fellow taco connoisseur, Sara Seibt, and I just look at each other and burst out laughing. However, since this was a more commercial area, we crossed the street and walked into the first taco place we saw - which happened to be Taqueria Los Comales.
The inside was fine, nothing special - reminded me of an old school Chicago hot dog joint. We were seated and I would have killed for a marg at that point, but I had to work once I got home so I refrained.
It was rather popular: an entire squadron of police officers sat down after us. I’m not surprised as the tacos here were dope though.
I won't lie - the tacos are starting to blend together for me - which is okay because the more good taco places, the better, amirite? However, it is getting more difficult to differentiate them in my reviews. So, you’ll have to settle for succinct and to the point:
The tacos were well seasoned and cheap. I’m all about it. I wouldn't tell people to go out of the way for these tacos but they were exactly what I expected and needed out of a taco.
Their guac was dope, too.
